The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
