It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the competition."

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was out her side required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
